The Korfball Federation of Nepal has filed its membership application with the IKF. The IKF Council will propose to the IKF General Assembly in November to admit them as an Associate Member.
Nepal already joined the Asia-Oceania Korfball Federation last year when it played during the Asian Championship in New Delhi (India). The Korfball Federation of India has been instrumental by supporting the KFN with equipment and coaching and refereeing knowledge. In the meantime, the KFN has worked hard to set up the formal structure of the Federation, has gained official recognition from the Nepalese Sports Council. The President is now Mr Laxman Ghimire, and the Secretary General is Mr Pasupati Prasad Bhandari. Furthermore, the KFN has introduced korfball into a number of schools and has set up korfball clubs in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Nuwakot, Chitwan and Kavre. Recently they launched a brand new and advanced website. Source: IKF, Republica
