“The Games will be held for the first time in South America“. On behalf of the next host, Pascual Guerrero mentioned that TWG2013 will run under the slogan “The World Games for a clean planet.” He also reported about the intention of the organizing committee to pay specific attention to environmental-friendliness. We want “fair play to the environment“, said the President of the Executive Committee of Cali.   

Ron Froehlich explained the decision to pick Cali as next host with their enormous experience in organizing sport events. Just recently Cali held National Championships with more than 6,000 participants. The city has furthermore held Pan-American Games and many more international championships and has already got the necessary infrastructure and sports venues.

Pascual Guerrero about the decision to bid for TWG2013: “The excitement among the public here in Kaohsiung shows us that we can be looking forward to having the Games in Cali.” According to him, the event offers the people in South America the opportunity to learn about interesting and fascinating sports, and is a chance to push urban development.

During the 2009 World Games, the Cali delegation expressed great interest in korfball and declared it definitely want to give korfball a prominent position in the program of the 2013 edition. Korfball has been on the program of the World Games since 1985 (London). Over the past days, the IKF has had a series of discussion with the leaders of the Cali bid and the Colombian Olympic Committee about the establishment of a Colombian Korfball Federation, as korfball does not yet have a base in the Latin American Country.
