IKF President Jan Fransoo was one of more than 1200 delegates at the Olympic Congress held in Copenhagen.
The IOC wanted to discuss its role in a changing society. Much attention was directed at the involvement of youth in sport in general and the Olympic Movement more specifically, and at the coming of the digital age. In his role as President of ARISF, Fransoo had made two conference contributions providing ideas for more flexibility on the Olympic Program and to strengthen the position of the Recognized Sports in the Olympic Movement. Albeit in aggregate wording, unfortunately leaving much room for action undecided, both ideas have been included in the 66 final Congress recommendations.
Fransoo will now work with his fellow Council members on ARISF to ensure that these recommendations are being followed up in the most favorable way for the Recognized Sports.
Apart from the formal congress sessions, Fransoo had many informal contacts with representatives from all over the Olympic Movement, including National Olympic Committee Presidents, IOC Members and Executive Board Members, taking advantage to raise the profile of korfball where useful and of recognized sports in general where necessary.
