The very last day we demonstrated korfball on an outdoor pitch. We were given time during a basketball tournament at Beijing School #22. Again, the demo was well received, and students participated actively. In addition, many of the teachers presented were very interested and wanted to take up the sport.
The IKF also agreed with the Chinese korfball community on the next steps, including a course to be conducted in May or June 2004. Furthermore, Atlas Sport will further spread the korfball message in China. A main issue will be equipment, and IKF and Atlas have discussed how to resolve this issue.
The whole team, players and officials, have had not only a successful week full of hard work, but have also very much enjoyed the work and the hospitality experienced by the Chinese. The last evening was therefore enjoyed by a closing dinner of Beijing duck, a foot massage offered by the owner of the Kanton restaurant in Scheveningen, and a visit to the Beijing bar district by the player which had not been completed at the time of writing this piece.......
