Dutch international and korfball star Michiel Gerritsen has been seriously injured in a practice match of the Netherlands national team last Monday in Leiden. The player of Nic. korfball club from Groningen (NED) will be operated very soon to repair his torn cruciate ligament and his meniscus. The minimum recovery time will be 4-6 months, making it doubtful whether he will be able to appear in the Netherlands team during the World Games in Kaohsiung (TPE). Gerritsen himself, however, remains optimistic and has been quoted as targeting to be fit again at the World Games.
