The Netherlands Institute of History will commence a study on the major sports in the Netherlands in the first half of the twentieth century, up until the second World War. To this end, a database will be created with all historical material of the six major sports in the Netherlands in that era. Obviously, korfball is one of those sports. Although korfball only started in 1902, it grew very quickly into a broad popular sport across all levels of society.
The database will include extensive data on all Dutch korfball clubs that have been established before 1940. Other sports that will be included in the database are football, hockey, gymnastics, tennis and chess. More information on the project can be found (only in Dutch) at http://www.inghist.nl/Onderzoek/LopendOnderzoek/Onderzoek/Projecten/Sportbonden%2CSportclubsEnSportperiodiekenInNederlandTot1940 Source: ING
