Balkan Championships for national teams

The 3rd Balkan Championships for national teams will take place in the city of Blagoevgrad , Bulgaria. on 27 and 28 June 2008.

This year, the participating teams are from: Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia and possibly Romania. Serbia won the previous two Balkan Championships.

Additionally the first Balkan Clubs Tournament (28-29 June) will take place immediately after the Balkan Korfball Championships.

Maglaj Korfball Tournament

The International Korfball Tournament in Maglaj (Bosnia and Herzegovina) will take place from 1 – 3 August 2008.

It is the 5th edition of this tournament which is very popular with korfball teams and individuals from all around Europe.

Clubs are invited to attend the event and are requested to announce their entry no later than 31 May 2008.

IOC extends recognition of korfball

The International Olympic Committee has informed the International Korfball Federation that it has extended the recognition of the International Korfball Federation. No further details were mentioned in the letter; the IKF will be informed of further details of the decision in early June in a bilateral meeting with IOC Sports Department representatives.

Bosnian Korfball players attended courses in Belgium

Bosnia Herzegovina is one of the smallest korfball countries of the IKF.

In 1998, an enthusiast group started korfball and the country became affiliated to the IKF in 2001. From the start there was close contact between the korfball centre, Maglaj, and the korfball club from Badalona (Catalonia).
